Dr Stalker,

Speaking architecturewise and in classical terms of art, we may think of repetitions as redundant formations shadowing the value of the original, if and when there is one. On the other hand there is a tremendous movement, urge & experience towards constructing through repetition of similar parts and creating a tissue, a whole. Yes, the magic word is "pattern"; especially the way you put as a visionary element of "being".
I liked your approach...

I have been reduced to tears this past 2 weeks as FK have been the worst they have ever been in the year we have had to endure them and I am almost at the point of having a breakdown atm due to them

computers are indeed destroying our mental capacity to think and reason. we constntly rely more heavily on computers to solve our problems which were at the past, solved by human intelligence; not computer-inteligence.

Well I think we can see this partly because fiction gives us an idea of what technology can be used for. With the idea of satellite tracking from Jules Verne, I'm sure it inspired a generation to dream of how they could realise this, influencing science to an extent in fuel of this dream, until we got where we are today.

Fiction like using genetic modification to bring back the dinosaurs may have been "out there" at the time, but it gives us ideas as to what we can do with technology, and sort of creates a concrete goal to work towards.

Just the thoughts I had whilst reading.
BTW: totally out of date comment, but I found this blog entry whilst scouring the net for something completely unrelated, and it caught my eye. Great article! :D
